Prior to joining the Ash Center, Betsy worked in a variety of roles in higher education, focusing on racial and gender equality through research, writing, and facilitation. Betsy holds a master’s degree in Urban and Regional Policy from Northeastern University, and a bachelor’s degree in Art History from Boston University.

Leighton has been in the video and film industry for over 20 years. He began working with college and professional sports teams in the Boston area before taking on a major role with a national broadcast news team at ABC News in New York City. During his time there he worked on many projects, including numerous Emmy nominations and wins, as well as the Edward R. Murrow award for excellence in journalism. Leighton is currently a producer and editor for ESPN, where his award winning work can be seen on SportsCenter and other global platforms. He also has a background working on independent films, as well as photography.
